Catalysts, the project where creativity sparks connection and individuality finds its voice

About Catalysts

The Denver Theatre District (DTD) presents Catalysts, a community artwork by renowned British-American artist Jann Haworth. Catalysts features a collage of 35 stenciled portraits of behind-the-scenes individuals who are integral to the success and vibrancy of Denver arts and culture, as selected by participating arts organizations. Each participating arts organization selected an honoree to be recognized and submitted an essay highlighting their remarkable contributions.

In June of 2024 Haworth led a collaborative workshop with honorees, local artists and community members who created the stencils for the artwork. Haworth then arranged and completed the work which was photographed and adapted to fit the triptych art billboard located on the side of the Buell Theatre in Denver, Colorado. The Denver Theatre District is proud to host the work of Jann Haworth and invites you to celebrate the incredible contributions of these exceptional individuals.

Catalysts is located on the side of the Buell Theatre on Champa Street between 13th Street and 14th Street and will run until 2027.

About the Denver Theatre District

The Denver Theatre District (DTD) enlivens a 16-block area of downtown Denver through interactive, immersive and experimental arts and culture events and experiences, most of which are free to the public. The DTD provides creatives with a downtown platform and financial support for sharing their work. The first model of its kind, the Denver Theatre District is a private non-profit funded through a revenue share collected from corporate advertising on static and LED screens located throughout the District. Partners such as Denver Arts & Venues, the Downtown Denver Partnership, and Denver Center for the Performing Arts expand the possibilities of DTD offerings through their support.
